Help Your Career – Volunteer

Why Volunteer?

You believe in what an organization is doing. You really like the work. You make new friends. You give your vocation new meaning when you work for a higher purpose.

On the practical side, if you are searching for a job or changing careers, volunteering gives you experience, skills and contacts for the next step. From a spiritual point of view, you are blessed to be a blessing.

More Blessed to Give

Of your own free will, give the time, talent and treasure given you to offer help and hope to others.

“In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner

you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus…

‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35

Everyone is weak sometimes, whether physically, mentally or spiritually. Whether you get paid or not, there are opportunities and needs to be met. Volunteering as a part of your everyday personal and work life can be defined in two ways:

  • Verb: To offer oneself for some service, undertaking or purpose
  • Noun: A person who performs a service willingly and without pay

Let’s view the minutes and the monies God has given you, as if you are His servant described in Jesus’ Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30:

“…it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them.  To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.”

Imagine that you are entrusted and called by God to be a faithful steward of His possessions. What will you do? What will be the results of you work? Will you trust God?

“After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

The servant who was given two bags and gained two more, he received the same reply from the Master. But how did the Master respond to the servant who buried the bag given him?

“His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! …you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags... And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’”

Rewards up to 10,000%

Invest wisely the time, talent and treasure entrusted to you and receive maximum return. If you sow the seeds given you into good soils, the return on that investment, eternally speaking, will reap an abundance…

“…and as they grew up and increased,

they yielded a crop and produced thirty, sixty, and a hundredfold.”

Can you imagine the good works prepared for you producing a return of 3,000%? Or perhaps 6,000% or even 10,000%? Believe and receive it. Be a faithful steward.
